Elle devint très populaire, surtout dans le milieu de la boxe. Le lutteur professionnel Hulk Hogan l'écoute à chaque entrainements.Elle a dominé le Billboard Hot 100 pendant six semaines. Elle a aussi gagné un Grammy Award et a été élue Meilleure nouvelle chanson aux People's Choice Awards. "Eye of the Tiger" a également été nommée aux Oscars pour la meilleure chanson originale en 1982, mais n'a pas remporté la statuette.
